Intermediate Designer

About the role

We are seeking an Intermediate Designer to join our interdisciplinary team at SOM. The role involves contributing to project portions under the guidance of project leadership, bringing strong conceptual design abilities and technical knowledge to deliver high‑quality architectural solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop distinct portions of projects with regular supervision, ensuring precision and accuracy.
• Produce and coordinate presentation and contract deliverables, including diagrams, 3D models, drawings, renderings, physical models and animations.
• Communicate internally through timely written, oral, and visual means.
• Integrate interdisciplinary criteria to advance design concepts.
• Collaborate with project teams, critically evaluating ideas.
• Apply knowledge of building materials, systems, specifications, codes, details and construction techniques to enrich designs.
• Manage time and workload to meet task deadlines, interacting regularly with project leadership.
• Share knowledge with less experienced staff.

Required profile

• Professional degree in Architecture or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Professional licensure process in progress; LEED accreditation preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
