Intergovernmental Policy Consultant

About the role

UN Women is seeking an Intergovernmental Policy Consultant to strengthen its engagement in global macro‑economic and sustainable development processes. The consultant will work within the Intergovernmental Support Section, providing technical guidance that places gender equality at the heart of the 2030 Agenda and related UN forums.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver position papers, analytical summaries and reports for bodies such as the Commission on the Status of Women, ECOSOC, the High‑Level Political Forum and the General Assembly.
• Support the implementation of UN resolutions and decisions, including coordination with expert bodies created by intergovernmental forums.
• Lead the development of UN Women’s corporate positions and strategies on macro‑economic and sustainable development issues.
• Provide technical advice to country and regional offices, develop capacity‑building tools and facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with thematic sections on studies, advocacy content and multi‑stakeholder consultations.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in economics, international development, public policy or a related field.
• Extensive experience with UN intergovernmental processes and normative agenda‑setting.
• Demonstrated expertise in macro‑economic policy, sustainable development and gender equality.
• Strong analytical, writing and negotiation skills.
