Intensive Service Intern

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Intensive Service Intern to support its Intensive Case Management (ICM), Extended Case Management (ECM) and Services for Older Refugees (SOR) programs in the Baltimore metropolitan area. This internship offers hands‑on experience assisting refugees, asylees and other humanitarian immigrants with their long‑term integration, health, and social needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients in arranging transportation to medical and other essential appointments.
• Conduct virtual orientation sessions on topics such as public transportation, making medical appointments, and accessing community resources.
• Support case management for single‑headed refugee households, survivors of domestic violence, older refugees, unaccompanied youth, and clients with mental health, physical disability, or medical challenges.
• Document services through case notes and maintain case files in accordance with program requirements.
• Collaborate with the extended services team to connect at‑risk clients to healthcare, education, and psychosocial resources.

Required profile

• Strong interest in humanitarian work and refugee resettlement.
• Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with diverse client populations.
• Willingness to learn about U.S. refugee resettlement processes and eligibility criteria.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple client needs and documentation requirements.
