Industrial Hygienist (Citywide Exam)

About the role

The San Francisco Department of Public Health seeks a qualified Industrial Hygienist to support citywide public health initiatives. Working onsite, you will protect employees and the public from chemical, biological, and physical hazards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technically complex industrial hygiene work related to hazardous materials and environmental hazards.
• Conduct routine monitoring of chemical, biological and physical agents in workplaces.
• Advise management on occupational safety and health regulations and hazardous material handling.
• Investigate health and safety hazards, coordinate remedial actions with multiple agencies, and prepare detailed reports.
• Develop, modify and maintain health and safety programs, policies and procedures for hazardous material incidents.

Required profile

• Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles and hazardous material regulations.
• Experience conducting workplace surveys and monitoring for chemical, biological and physical hazards.
• Ability to evaluate risks, recommend corrective actions and coordinate with city and county departments.
• Strong written communication for reporting and policy development.
