Hydrographer / Geophysicist

About the role

We are looking for a Hydrographer/Geophysicist to join Bedrock’s ocean‑mapping team in Brooklyn. You will work with some of the highest‑resolution seafloor data on the planet, turning raw multibeam, sidescan, magnetometer and sub‑bottom profiler measurements into actionable insights for our customers and for government standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform first‑pass analysis of MBES, SSS, magnetometer and sub‑bottom profiler data using commercial software such as Qimera, Seaview, SonarWiz or Radex.
• Provide rapid, iterative feedback on data quality, identify artifacts and diagnose their causes.
• Produce data products, reports and visualisations for commercial clients and act as the primary point of contact for data‑quality issues.
• Educate clients on the value, limitations and uncertainty of AUV‑collected data.
• Contribute to the definition of uncertainty and accuracy standards that inform government policy.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve vehicle performance and survey planning workflows.

Required profile

• Curious, fast‑learning professional with a passion for ocean data and seafloor mapping.
• Strong communication skills to discuss data quality and interpretation with customers.
• Experience processing at least two of the following data types: MBES, SSS, magnetometer, sub‑bottom profiler.
