Household Manager – Morning Support & Home Organization

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Household Manager to support a busy family of five in Lake Bluff, IL. The role focuses on morning routines, light childcare, home organization, and basic household upkeep, ensuring a calm and orderly environment for the parents and children.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve breakfast, help children dress, brush teeth, and pack lunches before school.
• Drop off the youngest at Montessori school and handle short‑distance errands for the children.
• Maintain organized spaces such as entryway, closets, kitchen, pantry, and laundry areas.
• Perform daily resets: tidy rooms, wash dishes, wipe surfaces, vacuum high‑traffic zones, and set up for the weekly deep‑cleaner.
• Assist with simple meals (3‑times weekly), snack preparation, and kitchen cleanup.
• Track household supplies, manage grocery orders, and handle returns or dry‑cleaning pickups.
• Perform minor home maintenance tasks like changing batteries, light bulbs, and checking smoke detectors.
• Fuel and lightly organize the family vehicle as needed.

Required profile

• Patient, kind, trustworthy, and genuinely empathetic with children and pets.
• Proactive, self‑directed, and able to work independently without daily supervision.
• Highly punctual, especially for early morning start times.
• Comfortable in a smoke‑free home, authorized to work in the United States, and dog‑friendly.
• Organizational mindset: enjoys labeling, creating lasting systems, and keeping the home tidy.
