Handbag Designer

About the role

Reformation is seeking a Handbag Designer to join its Product Innovation Design team in New York. You will shape the creative vision for the accessories business, translating global trends into distinctive, sustainable bags that embody the brand’s aesthetic.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing trend research and synthesize insights into relevant product concepts.
• Develop seasonal concepts, themes, and collections under the guidance of the Design Director.
• Present sketches and assortments, creating design pitch decks for quarterly and monthly reviews.
• Research and curate key materials, trims, and hardware for the core and novelty material libraries.
• Build comprehensive tech packs and collaborate with factories to bring designs to life.
• Create mock‑ups, salpas, and detailed specifications for decorative and functional hardware.
• Lead design correction meetings and manage design pass‑offs.

Required profile

• Highly creative with a deep technical understanding of handbag construction.
• Mastery of leathercraft and a strong commercial instinct.
• Exceptional taste, a high bar for quality, and a passion for sustainable fashion.
