Global Head of Legal – Global Payments

About the role

The Global Head of Legal for Global Payments will lead the legal function supporting TikTok’s worldwide payment and financial services initiatives. This senior position partners with product, engineering, compliance and business teams to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate risk across all payment‑related activities.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the lead legal business partner for the Global Payments organization, overseeing a team of legal professionals worldwide.
• Advise on payments, lending, financial services, regulatory, consumer protection, marketing, intellectual property, risk assessment/compliance and data privacy matters.
• Structure, draft and negotiate channel partner agreements with payment partners.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, compliance, marketing and business development on product development and commercialization of payment projects.
• Work with global legal colleagues to support launch of payment features in diverse jurisdictions.
• Build scalable processes for legal review and launch of new payment products.
• Stay current on financial‑service regulations, including payments, money transmission, virtual currency, stored‑value cards, lending, KYC and KYB.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with extensive in‑house experience supporting global payment companies, preferably in a FinTech or large technology platform.
• Demonstrated expertise in payments and financial‑services regulatory regimes across Europe, Asia and LATAM.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, self‑starter attitude and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment.
• Strong judgment, issue‑identification skills and ability to counsel senior business leaders.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of payments and financial‑services regulations.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Proficiency in managing cross‑functional legal projects globally.
• Understanding of KYC, KYB, data‑privacy and consumer‑protection frameworks.
