Full Professor in Democracy Studies (Political Science)

About the role

The University of Notre Dame’s Department of Political Science and the Keough School of Global Affairs seek one or more faculty members who specialize in the empirical study of democracy. The appointment is expected at the Full Professor level, with consideration for advanced Associate Professors.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑quality research on political regimes, regime change, democratic institutions, and political behavior.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in political science and related fields.
• Mentor graduate students and junior faculty.
• Contribute to departmental, school, and university service activities.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in political science, a related social science, or a comparable field.
• Strong research agenda addressing key questions of democracy, domestically or internationally.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentorship.
• Commitment to the university’s Catholic identity is strongly encouraged.
