French Teacher for Grades 9‑12

About the role

The school is seeking a dedicated French teacher for grades 9‑12. Working under the principal’s supervision, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality instruction, monitoring student progress, and maintaining a disciplined learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons in accordance with the curriculum and instructional objectives.
• Prepare written lesson plans, instructional materials, and bulletin boards that reflect current student work.
• Assess student performance, keep accurate records of achievements, attendance, and seating charts.
• Apply contemporary learning theories and classroom management techniques.
• Promote student attendance, anti‑vandalism initiatives, and positive self‑concept.
• Enforce the Chicago Public Schools Uniform Discipline Code on campus areas.
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding academic progress and behavior.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and may coordinate field trips or extracurricular activities.

Required profile

• Successful completion of all student‑teaching requirements and coursework for an Illinois teaching certificate.
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) endorsed for secondary French instruction.
• Strong knowledge of French language content and state certification standards.
• Understanding of modern teaching principles, curriculum development, and behavior management.
