Founding AI Engineer for AI-native compliance platform

About the role

We are building an AI-native compliance platform for community banks and financial institutions. As a founding AI Engineer you will shape the core architecture and take the product from an early-stage MVP to a secure, enterprise-grade system that powers regulatory investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agentic reasoning systems over complex financial data such as corporate registries, sanctions lists and adverse media.
• Build scalable backend services for document ingestion (PDF, OCR, CSV), asynchronous job queues, case lifecycle orchestration and risk scoring with human-in-the-loop controls.
• Own the productionisation of AI models, including evaluation pipelines, dataset and version management, and safe rollout strategies (A/B testing, guardrails, fallback behaviours).
• Harden the platform for enterprise use by implementing authentication, role-based access, audit trails, backups, monitoring and measurable SLOs.
• Establish CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, runbooks and incident-response practices from the ground up.
• Collaborate directly with the founding team to define architecture, technical roadmap and product direction, and contribute to cutting-edge AI research relevant to regulatory data.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience delivering technical projects in a startup environment.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to define systems as well as ship features.
• Comfort working autonomously and making critical technical decisions.
