Financial Controller – Hybrid (Hornell, NY)

About the role

Alstom is seeking a full‑time hybrid Controller to join its Hornell, NY team. You will be responsible for the financial health and cost performance of multi‑million‑dollar engineering projects, working closely with procurement, finance managers and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Project Procurement and Finance Managers to optimise material cost control.
• Bridge budget, forecast, ROFO and actuals line‑by‑line, identifying root causes of cost deviations.
• Own and validate Tender BOM, Engineering and Manufacturing BOM financials to support EAC, savings and variance analysis.
• Monitor cost evolution, inflation, indexation and QCD deviations.
• Drive KPIs, cost reductions, tender support and risk‑mitigation plans.
• Serve as focal point for claims, material variances and SAP‑GSI cost data integrity.
• Proactively manage cost‑to‑complete, target tracking and cost‑gap closure.
• Conduct EAC reconciliation and deep analysis of actuals by WBS.
• Support decision‑making through advanced financial analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure financial success of projects.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related business field.
• Experience or solid understanding of industrial or manufacturing finance and controlling.
• Strong analytical mindset with focus on cost performance and risk mitigation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with procurement, project managers and engineering teams.
• Resilience and adaptability in managing complex, multi‑million engineering projects.

Required skills

• SAP (including SAP‑GSI cost data handling).
• Business Intelligence tools such as QlikView or Ody.C.
• Advanced Excel for financial modelling and analysis.
