Film Program Assistant

About the role

The Film Program Assistant supports the Lucas Museum’s film program, reporting to the Senior Curator and Head of Film Programs. This two‑year position involves research, administration, and project management to launch and sustain the museum’s film offerings.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research on documentaries, experimental films, and animation; compile and share content for review.
• Maintain the museum’s film database: create records, track progress, generate reports, and update information.
• Manage communications with filmmakers, rights holders, archives, and libraries; document meetings and disseminate information.
• Assist in program development, including schedule updates, budget tracking, vendor contracting, and coordination with museum teams.
• Work with Rights & Reproductions and IT teams to secure DCPs, high‑resolution files, and display permissions; support quality control, testing, and sequencing of exhibition content.

Required profile

• Strong research and administrative abilities.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience handling budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships.
• Ability to work collaboratively across curatorial, technical, and rights teams.

Required skills

• Film database management.
• Handling Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) and high‑resolution video files.
• Quality control and sequencing of film exhibition content.
