Field Operator – Vehicle Testing

About the role

At Seasats, you will launch autonomous vessels, conduct test missions and document results, working from the San Diego office and local boat ramps.

Key responsibilities

• Launch and recover unmanned vessels, including driving small boats and handling trailers.
• Develop and execute test missions using Seasats’ proprietary control software.
• Perform hardware and software troubleshooting independently or with engineers.
• Complete test checklists, log vessel behaviors, and write test reports.
• Load, unload, and transport equipment using vans, trucks, and trailers.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with saltwater boat operations and familiarity with COLREGS.
• Ability to operate gas/diesel engines and drive in various conditions year‑round.
• Valid driver’s license and California boater card (or equivalent).
• Physical ability to move heavy objects and use hand tools.

Required skills

• Hardware troubleshooting.
• Software troubleshooting.
• Operating small boats and drones/RC vehicles.
• Knowledge of maritime safety procedures.
