Equipment Operator Trainee / Operator at Montgomery County Oaks Landfill

About the role

Maryland Environmental Service is seeking an Equipment Operator Trainee or Equipment Operator to work at the Montgomery County Oaks Landfill in Derwood, MD. The role involves operating waste‑collection equipment, picking up and delivering recycling carts, and hauling residential and commercial solid waste throughout Montgomery County.

Key responsibilities

• Operate equipment safely while picking up and delivering recycling carts.
• Collect and haul residential and commercial solid waste across Montgomery County.
• Interact with the public and handle bins/carts of various sizes.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Pass a standard physical examination and be able to lift 50 lb.
• Valid driver’s license with fewer than 5 points.
• For the Operator role, at least 1 year of applicable experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GPS navigation phone applications.
• Ability to use email and Microsoft Office Suite.
