Environmental Services Technician II – Hospital Housekeeping

About the role

The Environmental Services Technician II provides advanced custodial and sanitation services throughout Palestine Regional Medical Center, ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position focuses on patient rooms, public areas, procedural and surgical spaces, and may support specialized waste handling and terminal cleaning.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect floors, walls, patient‑care equipment, restrooms, and public areas.
• Prepare and apply germicidal cleaning solutions in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Handle hazardous waste, soiled linen, and regulated medical waste following established protocols.
• Restock and organize supplies, maintain supply closets, and assist with furniture moves and room setups.
• Collect, transport, and dispose of waste according to regulatory standards.
• Operate mechanical cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
• Report equipment malfunctions and unsafe conditions to management.
• Follow safety procedures for chemicals, equipment, and biohazards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in healthcare environmental services or a custodial role (preferred).
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift, and perform repetitive motions.
• Basic understanding of infection‑prevention practices.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
