Engineering Technician III – FAA Technical Support

About the role

The Engineering Technician III supports the Federal Aviation Administration under the Technical Support Services Contract (T5). Working on sites nationwide, you will install, modify, test, and maintain electronic systems that keep the National Airspace System safe and efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Install, relocate, and remove electronic equipment such as navigation aids, communication systems, and surveillance hardware.
• Troubleshoot and repair systems to unit, board, or module level using standard test equipment.
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnect drawings, and technical orders.
• Route, terminate, label, and test coaxial, fiber, and copper cables.
• Document maintenance logs, service tickets, and test results in compliance with FAA and contract requirements.
• Follow safety, security, and quality procedures, including OSHA and FAA policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma (required).
• Five or more years of experience with analog and digital electronics, RF and communications equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb, stand for extended periods, and travel up to 100 % within the USA.
• Pass a federal background check and meet FAA security requirements.

Required skills

• Basic analog and digital electronics.
• Fundamentals of RF and communications equipment.
• Use of standard electronic test equipment (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators).
• Reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Internet, and email.
