Engineering Technician II – NPC (T2)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an NPC Engineering Technician II (T2) to support the design, testing, assembly and troubleshooting of electro‑mechanical systems used in semiconductor manufacturing. The role is based in Austin, TX and offers the chance to work on cutting‑edge equipment that drives AI and next‑generation chip production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, modify, test and assemble electronic and electro‑mechanical prototypes, test fixtures and specialized equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve system‑level and component‑level electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and vacuum issues with minimal supervision.
• Document test procedures, compile logbooks, write technical reports and contribute to the development of standard work instructions.
• Support new product introductions (NPI) and field upgrades, often working from limited documentation.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow all health‑ and safety‑related policies and training.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes for semiconductor equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface across functional teams.
• Ability to act as a technical resource, provide training to junior technicians and, when needed, serve as a quality lead.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical systems knowledge.
• Electrical testing and troubleshooting.

• Process testing on AMAT platforms.
• Technical report writing.
