Engineering Technician II – 1st Shift (T2)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Engineering Technician II for its Austin facility to work the 1st shift. The role supports the design, testing, assembly and troubleshooting of electro‑mechanical systems that enable advanced semiconductor and display manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine to moderately complex electro‑mechanical tasks including design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting and assembly of electronics and electro‑mechanical systems.
• Test and troubleshoot system‑level and component‑level problems in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and vacuum subsystems.
• Execute new system and NPI installations, field upgrades, and rework based on test results.
• Compile logbooks, test procedures and documentation with strong writing skills.
• Maintain a safe, clean and secure work environment, following all safety standards and reporting hazards.

Required profile

• Physically demanding work: standing for long periods, walking, bending, squatting, climbing ladders, lifting, and working in tight spaces.
• Ability to work in a clean‑room environment and wear required PPE such as coveralls, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators and face shields.
• Commitment to safety training, accident reporting and adherence to security policies.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical system testing and troubleshooting.
• Electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and vacuum testing.
• Use of schematics, diagrams and technical drawings.
• Operation of hand and power tools, test fixtures and specialized equipment.
• Forklift operation and basic material handling.
