Engineering Technician I (T1) – Full‑time

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions, is looking for an Engineering Technician I (T1) to support the design, testing, and assembly of electro‑mechanical systems. The role is based in Austin, TX and offers a hands‑on environment where you will work with cutting‑edge semiconductor equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine electro‑mechanical functions such as design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting and assembly of electronics and electro‑mechanical systems.
• Test and troubleshoot system‑level and component‑level problems in electrical and mechanical subsystems, following schematics, diagrams and written instructions.
• Compile logbooks and test procedures documentation with clear writing.
• Conduct mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum and process testing on AMAT platforms according to engineering and manufacturing specifications.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment, follow all safety standards and report hazards promptly.
• Generate quality notifications and perform rework as required after testing.

Required profile

• Physically demanding role requiring standing, walking, bending, lifting, and work in tight spaces, including clean‑room environments.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends or on‑call as needed to support customer requirements.
• No supervisory responsibilities; works independently following standard operating procedures.
