Engineering Manager – Lead Senior Backend Team

About the role

Rain is a global stablecoin payments platform building infrastructure for enterprises, neobanks and AI agents. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a senior backend and platform team, shape the architecture of core services and drive technical excellence in a fast‑growing fintech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, hire, coach and retain a high‑performing team of 4‑6 senior backend and platform engineers.
• Own the architecture and technical direction of Rain’s core services, including service boundaries, data modeling, scalability and technical debt decisions.
• Participate hands‑on in code reviews, prototyping, debugging and scoped implementation work (≈30% of time).
• Conduct design reviews, incident retrospectives and make technical bets to support future transaction volume growth.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Risk and Compliance partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading senior engineering teams in a high‑throughput, payments or fintech context.
• Strong track record of delivering large‑scale, reliable backend systems.
• Comfortable balancing hands‑on coding with strategic architectural decisions.
• Excellent communication and coaching skills to raise the performance of managers and individual contributors.
