Engineering Designer II – Sustainable Transportation

About the role

Alta Planning + Design is looking for an Engineering Designer II to join its Atlanta office. The role focuses on designing sustainable transportation projects that improve mobility, health, and equity across Georgia and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with planners, landscape architects, and engineers to deliver multimodal projects such as quick‑build intersections, complex bikeway designs, complete streets, and trails.
• Develop geometric layouts, grading plans, storm‑drainage systems, green‑infrastructure elements, signage, striping, and traffic‑control plans for bicycle, pedestrian, and multimodal facilities.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and monitor construction, ensuring designs are implemented according to specifications.
