Engineer I – Construction Estimating & Technical Support

About the role

Granite is seeking an Engineer I to provide technical engineering and cost information that ensures construction work complies with all engineering standards. This entry‑level position supports project controls, drawing interpretation, and material management across our construction sites.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with job controls to ensure compliance with contract terms, budget, schedule, forecasting and job costing.
• Interpret design drawings for craft workers and verify that installations follow specifications.
• Research and resolve drawing conflicts, interferences, and errors to meet code and specification requirements.
• Prepare and distribute status reports, punch lists, sketches, and material requirement calculations.
• Provide technical support for material delivery dates, construction schedules and design requirements to minimize additional costs.
• Create drawings and sketches for change orders, estimates and evolving job needs.
• Develop quantity take‑offs, material price lists, labor cost rates and equipment data for accurate bids.
• Research historical productivity data to produce summary reports and guidelines for future estimates.
• Maintain organized files of working documents to support bid accuracy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field (or equivalent technical training and experience).
• 0–2 years of experience in construction estimating support, engineering, field support or a similar role.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience using scheduling software.
• Experience with AGTEK Take‑off software.
