Electrical Engineering Internship – Summer 2027

About the role

Shield AI is a venture‑backed defense‑tech company developing autonomous aircraft and simulation technologies. The Summer 2027 internship offers a 10‑week paid experience where you will work on real avionics projects, receive mentorship, and potentially earn a full‑time offer.

Key responsibilities

• Own requirements gathering, design, and validation of multiple avionics assemblies and test fixtures.
• Gain expertise across power electronics, communications, RF, and related EE disciplines.
• Design test stands and fixtures, integrating relays, PLCs, PCBAs, harnessing, and mechanical equipment.
• Utilize Python to automate test sequences, perform analysis, or run simulations.
• Participate in cross‑functional design reviews and advocate for design changes that simplify manufacturing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Undergraduate, graduate or PhD student pursuing Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field.
• Strong grasp of fundamental engineering concepts, including EE, mechanical engineering, programming, physics, and mathematics.
• Experience on multidisciplinary hardware development projects (internship, job, club, team, or personal project).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ownership of project outcomes and delivery of high‑quality results.
• Demonstrated work ethic, reliability, and a collaborative, kind attitude.
