Educational Aide - Cyber Security

About the role

The State of Georgia, through Gwinnett Technical College, seeks a part‑time Educational Aide to support the Cyber Security lab. You will assist students, maintain lab equipment, and provide basic technical support while gaining hands‑on experience in a university environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide oral and written reports as required.
• Perform basic administrative and clerical tasks to keep the computer lab running smoothly.
• Listen to students, offer encouragement, and support their learning.
• Maintain a positive attitude that encourages student engagement.
• Inform staff about changes in meeting times and lab schedules.
• Operate computers, copiers, and other office equipment; conduct routine preventive maintenance.
• Maintain daily sign‑in logs and other program records.
• Demonstrate reliability, trustworthiness, and a “can‑do” approach to work.
• Adapt to process changes and accept direction from the Program Director.
• Follow scheduled work hours, break policies, and attendance procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical college courses (CIST 1122, 1401, 1601) preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot virtual machines, operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix), hardware, software, and printer issues.
• Flexibility in working conditions and schedules; able to lift 15‑30 lb.
• Attention to detail, multitasking ability, and fast learning aptitude.
