Economic Affairs Officer

About the role

The Economic Affairs Officer will support Sub‑programme 1 of UNOHRLLS by analysing economic trends in Least Developed Countries and contributing to policy development, advocacy and inter‑governmental support.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor economic and social developments in LDCs, identify emerging issues and prepare analytical reports.
• Design and conduct studies on economic development, including access to STEM education, and produce policy recommendations.
• Provide substantive economic support to UN bodies such as the General Assembly and ECOSOC, and represent the sub‑programme at international meetings.
• Organise expert group meetings, seminars and prepare speeches or briefing notes for senior staff.
• Collect, analyse and visualise data to inform decision‑making and prepare budget‑related documents and reports.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in economics, international relations, finance or related field.
• Minimum seven years of progressive experience in economic research, policy formulation and development programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, interpret econometric models and develop data‑driven policy advice.
• Strong communication skills in English; French is an asset.
