About the role
Anthropic is looking for an experienced Revenue Accounting professional to lead its accounting team in San Francisco. The Director will oversee revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and month‑end close processes while ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This senior role requires strong technical expertise and the ability to drive improvements in a fast‑moving environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage daily revenue accounting operations, processing high‑volume transactions and ensuring ASC 606 compliance.
- Own the month‑end revenue close, reviewing and approving reconciliations and journal entries for revenue, deferred revenue, and unbilled receivables.
- Oversee accounts receivable accounting, including reconciliations, aging analysis, and accurate recording of customer balances.
- Lead quarterly CECL aging analysis, applying ASC 326 and developing key AR metrics for management reporting.
- Perform month‑end flux analysis, explain variances in revenue and AR balances, and provide insights for decision‑making.
- Collaborate with Finance Operations, Finance Strategy, Billing Support, and business partners on strategic initiatives.
- Support revenue accounting system design, implementation, testing, and optimization.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert for revenue and AR accounting queries across the organization.
- Coordinate audits and act as primary contact for external auditors during year‑end audits.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all revenue and AR processes.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and ASC 326 (CECL) standards.
- Proven experience with accounts receivable accounting and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and influence change.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and teamwork orientation.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
