Director of Respiratory Therapy

About the role

Ochsner Health seeks a visionary leader to manage the entire respiratory care program, ensuring high‑quality patient care, compliance with accreditation standards, and continuous program improvement. The Director works closely with educational partners and internal teams to advance the mission of exceptional, compassionate care.

Key responsibilities

• Organize and supervise all aspects of the respiratory care program, including staffing, training, scheduling, and corrective actions.
• Oversee instructional activities, student and applicant coordination, and maintain up‑to‑date clinical knowledge.
• Develop long‑range plans and learning maps that align with organizational goals.
• Assist the senior Director with data preparation, analysis, and presentation for special projects.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and internal policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, including at least 2 years in clinical care and 2 years teaching in an accredited program.
• Current Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows operating systems and related software applications.
• Strong computer data‑entry and retrieval abilities for patient information.
• Clinical respiratory therapy expertise.
