Director of Purchasing – Hotel Procurement

About the role

The Director of Purchasing will lead the procurement function for Fairmont Dallas, ensuring the hotel receives the right materials, equipment, and services at the best value. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Business Support, this senior position oversees a team and collaborates across all hotel departments.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and participate in the procurement of all materials, equipment, supplies and services needed to support hotel operations.
• Lead, train and manage the purchasing team, handling performance management.
• Supervise all procurement activities and approve purchase orders in line with company SOPs.
• Manage receipt of incoming products, verifying quality, weight, quantity and temperature where applicable.
• Maintain vendor setups in Oracle GFS and Birchstreet, ensuring proper activation and system integration.
• Collaborate with departments to anticipate demand, coordinate short‑lead banquet requirements and attend BEO meetings.
• Act as liaison with Entegra (Group Procurement Manager) to maximize approved vendor usage and integrate off‑brand vendors.
• Negotiate and qualify non‑group suppliers, conducting inspections and reviewing insurance and product specifications.
• Drive cost‑reduction initiatives through standardization, value analysis and new product sourcing.
• Ensure timely invoice payment, address vendor concerns and work closely with the A/P team.
• Lead the monthly inventory process and produce daily F&B cost reports.

Required profile

• Proven experience overseeing procurement activities in a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and manage a purchasing team.
• Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts.
• Ability to coordinate cross‑departmental demand and support banquet operations.
