Director of Operations – Arkansas Food Innovation Center

About the role

The Director of Operations will provide leadership and operational management for the Arkansas Food Innovation Center at the Market Center of the Ozarks (AFIC@MCO). Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President for Agriculture–Research within the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, the role oversees a 45,000‑sq‑ft facility located in downtown Springdale that opened in May 2025.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for AFIC@MCO.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the 45,000‑sq‑ft facility.
• Manage staff, coordinate with research and extension teams, and ensure effective collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Develop, monitor, and report on budgets and financial performance.
• Lead strategic planning, partnership development, and community outreach initiatives.
• Supervise facility maintenance, capital projects, and continuous improvement efforts.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operational leadership within a research, agricultural, or food‑innovation environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large facilities and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of university or public‑sector governance and compliance requirements.
• Experience with budgeting, financial oversight, and resource allocation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
