Director of Data

About the role

We are seeking a Director of Data to shape and execute our data strategy as we build software‑defined vehicles. This senior, hands‑on leadership position will guide architecture, code, and a high‑performing team that handles massive vehicle telemetry and enterprise data streams.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the data roadmap across vehicle telemetry, manufacturing, and enterprise domains, aligning with engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
• Own architecture decisions for large‑scale ingestion, storage, processing, and serving layers handling high‑volume streaming and batch data.
• Stay technically involved: review designs, debug pipelines, and set coding standards by example.
• Recruit, manage, mentor, and grow a team of data engineers and analytics professionals, overseeing hiring, performance, and career development.
• Partner with quality, manufacturing, product, and software engineering teams to ensure data infrastructure meets reliability, safety, and analytics needs.
• Establish data governance, quality, and security standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and privacy requirements.
• Provide stakeholder‑facing reporting on platform health, data quality, and roadmap delivery.
• Evaluate and integrate modern tooling such as Databricks, Spark, Kafka, cloud data warehouses, and AI/LLM‑assisted engineering tools.
• Manage budget, vendor, and tooling decisions for the data organization.

Required profile

• 8–10 years of industry experience in data engineering or analytics, with at least 3 years leading high‑volume data teams.
• Proven hands‑on expertise building and operating large‑scale data systems.
• Strong collaboration skills with engineering, product, and business partners.
