Director of Accounting (Rebates & Incentives)

About the role

The Rebates and Incentives (R&I) Director of Accounting joins Mastercard’s Corporate Controllers group to provide accounting oversight for customer business agreements. This senior position partners with regional controllership, shared services, senior management and external auditors to ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee R&I processes, drive issue resolution and manage relationships with regions, business units and the accounting shared service center.
• Perform contract reviews and determine appropriate accounting treatment under US GAAP and Mastercard policies.
• Advise senior management on R&I transactions and prepare quarterly deliverables.
• Support regional controllership and shared services on accounting issues.
• Lead decision‑making by providing accounting guidance for business‑related R&I transactions.
• Manage quarterly pre‑close R&I meetings and ensure SEC reporting compliance.
• Identify efficiencies, automation opportunities and standardize R&I processes for global scalability.
• Oversee compliance with Mastercard policies, SOX, and Operational Risk Management, communicating exposures promptly.
• Interact with external auditors on US GAAP application for R&I transactions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in accounting, preferably within a large multinational.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements and SOX compliance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Proven ability to lead process transformation and drive operational efficiencies.
