Director, Internal Audit and Controls

About the role

The Director of Internal Audit and Controls will design, build and lead SoftBank’s internal audit function and controls compliance program. Reporting to the CFO, this senior position is responsible for establishing robust internal controls, risk management frameworks and audit processes across a global, rapidly scaling organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and lead the internal audit function, including charter, methodology, risk assessment policies, and a multi‑year audit plan aligned with business priorities and regulatory requirements.
• Design, build and lead the internal controls compliance program, covering scoping, materiality assessments and a risk‑based controls framework.
• Execute end‑to‑end internal financial, operational, IT and compliance audits across all business units, subsidiaries and geographies, delivering clear findings and remediation recommendations.
• Lead the annual controls testing cycle, including assessment design, walkthroughs, operating effectiveness testing and deficiency evaluation.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive controls documentation library (entity‑level controls, process‑level controls, risk and control matrices, IT general controls) in partnership with IT.
• Serve as Engagement Lead for internal‑audit‑related consultant engagements, ensuring timely delivery and integration of external expertise.
• Establish and maintain communication channels with leadership to present findings, risk assessments and remediation progress.
• Define and monitor key performance indicators for the internal audit function.
• Evaluate, implement and manage GRC technology platforms to support audit and compliance activities.
