Director, Infrastructure & Energy Accounting

About the role

Anthropic is looking for a Director of Infrastructure & Energy Accounting to lead technical accounting for its most complex data‑center leases, power purchase agreements, and related structures supporting a $50 bn investment in U.S. computing infrastructure. You will ensure accurate financial reporting for these high‑stakes contracts while partnering with Real Estate, Legal, Finance and auditors.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the technical accounting subject‑matter expert for complex infrastructure and energy arrangements.
• Apply ASC 842 to data‑center lease identification, modifications, and embedded lease components.
• Conduct ASC 810 VIE analysis for counter‑party and joint‑venture structures.
• Apply ASC 815 to energy contracts, evaluating embedded derivatives.
• Prepare technical accounting memos and ensure auditor‑ready documentation.
• Partner with Real Estate, Legal and Finance during contract negotiations to clarify accounting impacts.
• Act as a trusted finance partner to non‑finance stakeholders, explaining statement impacts in clear terms.
• Coordinate with external auditors on technical accounting matters.
• Mentor accounting staff on complex accounting topics.
• Drive process improvements and automation, leveraging AI tools.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in technical accounting for infrastructure, lease, and energy contracts.
• Deep knowledge of ASC 842, ASC 815, and ASC 810 standards.
• Proven ability to lead accounting analysis for large‑scale, high‑value arrangements.
• Strong collaboration skills with Real Estate, Legal, Finance and audit teams.
• Experience mentoring junior accounting professionals.
• Track record of implementing process improvements and automation.
