Desktop Support Technician – 12‑Month Contract (Onsite NY)

About the role

We are seeking a Desktop Support Technician to join a team of four technicians providing on‑site bar support (Tech BAR) for a client in the New York, NY area. This is a 12‑month contract position with the possibility of extension, working fully onsite on a W‑2 basis.

Key responsibilities

• Install, update, repair, and upgrade PC and laptop hardware and software.
• Perform hardware disposal, loaner program management, asset and software inventory, and remote imaging.
• Set up new hires, handle terminations, relocations, and provide remote and automated updates.
• Provide 1st and 2nd level phone, walk‑up, and ticket‑based support for desktop, enterprise applications, printing, email, connectivity, remote access, and hardware issues.
• Manage IT support queue, log, prioritize, assign, and troubleshoot calls, voicemails, emails, tickets, and walk‑up requests.
• Build and deploy new workstations, perform server and desktop updates, and ensure security against viruses and malware.
• Document technical solutions, track customer issues, and maintain knowledge‑base articles.

Required profile

• Must be local to the New York, NY area and able to work fully onsite on a W‑2 basis.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot software, hardware, and connectivity issues remotely.
• Experience with installation, upgrade, and maintenance of PCs, peripherals, and network services.

Required skills

• Windows workstation installation and upgrade.
• Citrix and VDI environments.
• Avaya, Cisco, or Polycom telephony systems.
• Microsoft Exchange shared mailbox and distribution list management.
• Casper and LANDesk for software distribution and patching.
• Encryption/security tools and secure‑environment troubleshooting.
