Deputy Inspector General – Audit

About the role

The Office of Inspector General for Jefferson Parish seeks a Deputy Inspector General to lead and coordinate audit activities across the parish. This senior position oversees the planning, execution, and reporting of audits that adhere to national standards.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate, conduct, supervise, and coordinate high‑quality audits in accordance with adopted standards.
• Develop and execute an annual audit work plan using a data‑driven, risk‑based approach.
• Design audit objectives, scope, methodology, and innovative procedures to identify root causes.
• Support procurement activities and assist in the preparation of the office’s annual budget.
• Communicate audit findings clearly to diverse stakeholders, both orally and in writing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or public administration.
• Minimum five years of progressive full‑time experience conducting, coordinating, managing, or supervising audits.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) credential.
• Preferred: Master’s degree and experience with GAGAS and IIA standards.
