About the role

The Department Head, Business will provide strategic leadership for the Business Department at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. This senior academic position is responsible for advancing the department’s mission through curriculum development, faculty mentorship, and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the department’s academic and strategic plans.
• Oversee curriculum design, program accreditation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage faculty recruitment, evaluation, and professional development.
• Administer the department’s budget, resources, and facilities.
• Foster partnerships with industry, alumni, and external stakeholders.
• Represent the department in university governance and external forums.

Required profile

• Doctorate or terminal degree in Business or a related field.
• Significant experience in higher‑education teaching and administration.
• Proven record of scholarly activity and professional service.
• Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities.
