Data Engineer II – Generative AI

About the role

Travelers is seeking a Data Engineer II focused on Generative AI to design, build, and operationalize advanced data pipelines that support AI, machine learning, and business intelligence across the enterprise. The role combines deep data‑engineering expertise with cutting‑edge Gen‑AI concepts to turn raw data into actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operationalize complex data solutions and pipelines.
• Perform data transformations, cleansing, and quality improvements.
• Analyze diverse data sources to assess value and recommend inclusion in analytical workflows.
• Implement data governance, security, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver data products and educate end users.
• Diagnose and resolve complex data defects and incidents.
• Test data movement, transformation code, and related components.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
• At least eight years of relevant experience in data engineering.
• Strong understanding of Generative AI concepts such as Agentic Frameworks, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), Large Language Models (LLM), chunking, and hyper‑parameters.
• Proven experience designing and architecting full‑stack data solutions for AI applications.
