Data Center Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Zenlayer is seeking a Data Center Infrastructure Engineer to join its Los Angeles facility. The role involves hands‑on installation, configuration and maintenance of servers, networking equipment and cabling to ensure continuous data‑center operations.

Key responsibilities

• Install, label, rack and power servers, routers and switches according to work orders and MAC (Moves/Adds/Changes) requests.
• Perform copper and fiber cabling, test connections and troubleshoot hardware or software issues on‑site.
• Configure operating systems (Windows, Linux) and remote‑access tools (SSH, RDP, PuTTY) and operate DCIM management tools.
• Maintain asset records, audit logs, inventory checks and documentation in compliance with security and safety protocols.
• Provide smart‑hands assistance across sites, meet SLA response times and generate status reports on availability, performance and capacity.
• Coordinate receiving, shipping and RMA processing of equipment, and keep the data‑center environment clean.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and travel up to 20 % for on‑site support or deployments.

Required profile

• Action‑oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lb, working at heights and in confined or noisy spaces.
• Fluent in Mandarin Chinese (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented and a strong team player.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with servers, routers, switches and network hardware.
• Knowledge of copper and fiber cabling installation and testing.
• Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Familiarity with SSH, RDP and PuTTY for remote access.
• Experience using DCIM tools for infrastructure management.
• Understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts.
• Ability to use standard IDC hand tools.
