Counsel, Regulatory Litigation

About the role

Lyft is looking for a sharp, dynamic, and self‑motivated attorney to join its Litigation team. Reporting to a Director, you will act as a trusted advisor to multiple internal business partners, helping the company navigate complex regulatory and consumer litigation matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hands‑on litigation work, including discovery, motion practice, witness preparation, settlement negotiations, and trial or appellate strategy.
• Provide proactive legal advice on regulatory disputes, government investigations, competition issues, and consumer class actions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as Compliance, Public Policy, Communications, Customer Care, Product, Marketplace, and Lyft Urban Solutions.
• Manage outside counsel, overseeing tactical guidance, staffing, budgeting, and alignment with Lyft’s broader legal strategy.

Required profile

• J.D. from a top‑tier law school and active membership in at least one state bar.
• 5+ years of civil litigation experience at a mid‑ to large‑size law firm or regulatory agency; in‑house experience is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate legal risks and recommendations to senior leaders.
• Strong problem‑solving, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills.
