Litigation Associate

About the role

DTO Law is seeking a Junior to Mid‑Level Associate to join its diverse civil practice, focusing on class‑action defense, complex commercial litigation, and intellectual‑property disputes. Candidates should have 2‑5 years of litigation experience in federal and California state courts, a JD from a top‑tier law school, and strong written and communication skills. A federal clerkship is a plus.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies.
• Participate in all stages of discovery, including document productions, depositions, and expert‑witness preparation.
• Draft legal pleadings, briefs, and other required documents.
• Attend hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and experts.

Required profile

• JD from a top law school with excellent academic credentials.
• Admission to practice in California or New York, with a strong preference for California‑barred attorneys.
• 2‑5 years of litigation experience.
• Motivated, entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm for developing clients and growing a legal practice.
• Excellent communication, writing, and research skills.
• Team player with a “can‑do” attitude.
• Commitment to a 1,750‑hour billable requirement.

What we offer

• Lockstep salary range of $170,000 – $272,000 for 1,750 billable hours (additional guaranteed compensation for higher billable thresholds).
