Communications Specialist (Hybrid, Part-Time)

About the role

The University of Arkansas System seeks a part‑time Communications Specialist to support public‑relations and media‑relations activities for both the system and the Winthrop Rockefeller Distinguished Lectures (WRDL). This 20‑hour weekly position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining on‑site collaboration with remote flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Communications with drafting press releases, newsletters, and social‑media content.
• Coordinate media outreach and maintain relationships with local and regional news outlets.
• Provide executive assistance to the WRDL Advisory Board, including meeting preparation and follow‑up.
• Support the planning and promotion of WRDL events and lectures.
• Maintain communication calendars and ensure timely delivery of messaging across both entities.

Required profile

• Current employee, student employee, or graduate assistant of the University of Arkansas System.
• Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced academic environment.
