Communications Specialist – Community Relations (Full Benefits)

About the role

The Communications Specialist supports the Community Relations and Engagement Department in delivering effective public communication and organizing district events. Reporting to the assigned administrator, the role blends writing, media production, and event coordination to enhance community outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and executing public and district events.
• Write, create, and produce public‑relations materials such as press releases, newsletters, and flyers.
• Coordinate communication activities across the district and with external partners.
• Maintain records of community engagement initiatives and track their impact.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with two years of college coursework in public relations, communications, or a related field.
• At least two years of experience in public relations or communications.
• Desirable: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of media‑production experience.
• Internal candidates are given preference.

Required skills

• Typing proficiency – minimum 50 net words per minute, verified by a recent certificate.
