Commercial Counsel – Go‑to‑Market

About the role

Anthropic is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join its legal team and support the Go‑to‑Market (GTM) organization. You will act as a strategic partner, helping the company bring cutting‑edge AI products to enterprise customers, researchers, and partners while ensuring agreements are safe, compliant, and aligned with Anthropic’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, focusing on GTM and sales transactions such as enterprise customer contracts.
• Partner closely with Sales and GTM teams to accelerate deal velocity and provide practical legal guidance.
• Develop and maintain commercial legal infrastructure, including contract templates, playbooks, and process improvements.
• Collaborate with Policy, Safeguards, and Research teams on AI governance initiatives and novel agreements.
• Identify, assess, and appropriately escalate legal risks while supporting business momentum.
• Stay current on legal developments affecting AI technologies.

Required profile

• J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (California preferred).
• 3‑5 years of experience with commercial contracts, SaaS agreements, or technology transactions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate legal concepts for non‑lawyer audiences.
• Collaborative, low‑ego approach and curiosity about AI and responsible AI development.
• Comfort working in fast‑paced environments with shifting priorities.

Required skills

• Experience negotiating enterprise‑level commercial agreements.
• Familiarity with SaaS and technology transaction terminology.
• Ability to draft and manage contract templates and legal playbooks.
