CNC Mill Machinist (Day Shift)

About the role

The CNC Mill Machinist will set up and operate production machines—including mills, lathes, grinders and saws—to fabricate parts according to drawing specifications at our Houston, TX facility. The position works the day shift from 4:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with daily hours varying between 8 and 12 based on workload.

Key responsibilities

• Study sketches, drawings, manuals and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances and required machining sequence.
• Measure, mark and scribe reference points on material, then select, align and secure fixtures, cutting tools and accessories on CNC mills and lathes.
• Calculate and set machine controls such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth of cut, or input/edit CNC programs.
• Start machines, monitor operation, detect malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance cuts and make necessary adjustments.
• Perform trial runs to verify accuracy of settings and conduct in‑process inspections.
• Verify finished workpieces against specifications and collaborate with engineers, programmers and production staff to resolve issues.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in a machining environment.
• Hands‑on experience with CNC mills and lathes.
• Proficiency with quality‑control measuring devices (micrometers, gauges, indicators, calipers, scales).
• Ability to read, edit and understand CNC machine programs and GD&T.
