Civil Engineer (PE) – Project Engineer

About the role

The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. (MSG) is an award‑winning, full‑service consulting firm delivering integrated planning, design, engineering and construction solutions across the Midwest. Due to continued growth in the Civil/Municipal Division, MSG is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to join its team.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with licensed engineers on commercial, industrial, energy, water/wastewater and community projects.
• Coordinate with Surveying, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, and Site Construction teams.
• Perform and review design calculations and prepare complete design packages.
• Develop front‑end feasibility studies, due‑diligence reports, zoning studies, storm‑water modeling, cost estimates and detailed design plans.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews of project deliverables.

Required profile

• Practical experience in design and plan preparation of site‑development projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Familiarity with industry design standards and project guidelines.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D grading (preferred).
• Ability to prepare independent hydraulic/hydrologic reports (preferred).
• Strong communication skills for interacting with review agencies.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio (other states considered).
