About the role
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Child Care Teacher Assistant to support its Head Start program in Little Rock. The assistant will work closely with lead teachers to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment for preschool‑aged children.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and delivering age‑appropriate educational activities.
- Supervise children during classroom time, play, meals, and field trips.
- Help maintain a clean, organized classroom and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Support record‑keeping, attendance, and communication with families.
- Collaborate with staff to implement the Head Start curriculum and address individual child needs.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in early childhood education preferred.
- Experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet licensing requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork.
