Charge Nurse – Night Shift (Georgia Regional Hospital)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Charge Nurse for the Georgia Regional Hospital in Decatur. This night‑shift position leads nursing staff, oversees patient care, and ensures compliance with clinical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, guide, and assign work to nursing staff on the night shift.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for the assigned unit.
• Ensure accurate assessment of patients’ health problems and needs.
• Develop and maintain nursing care plans and medical records.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments with proper documentation.
• Coordinate with the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Provide patient education on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment planning.
• Manage staffing, assignments, and daily nursing operations for the unit.
• Ensure nursing services comply with standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Provide training and clinical guidance to nursing and support staff.

Required profile

• Associate degree in nursing from an accredited institution and a current Georgia RN license.
• Four years of professional nursing experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or lead role, or equivalent experience as a Registered Nurse 3.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing and prior experience as a Charge Nurse or nursing supervisor in behavioral health, psychiatric, or similar settings.
• Strong communication, organization, documentation, and patient‑care abilities.
