Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant – Acute Care

About the role

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant provides routine treatment under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist in an acute‑care setting. This role involves direct patient care after evaluation, documentation of progress, and collaboration with the care team to support patient recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform occupational therapy treatments as prescribed by the physician and supervised by a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Communicate and document changes in patient status and inform the therapist of any need for reassessment.
• Maintain patient records in accordance with documentation standards, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in staff and committee projects and achieve productivity targets set by administration.
• Educate and train others within the discipline and adapt interactions to respect patient privacy and preferences.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Eligibility for state OT assistant licensure by examination and a current license prior to start date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• No prior work experience required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
