Building Engineer / Senior Building Engineer

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is seeking an experienced Building Engineer or Senior Building Engineer to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of its facility. This hands‑on position focuses on maintaining high‑performance building systems while delivering excellent customer service to occupants.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot major building systems including HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, and air‑handling equipment.
• Maintain building automation, electrical distribution, emergency power, lighting controls, plumbing, fire/life‑safety, elevators, and access‑control systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to established schedules and procedures.
• Respond to equipment alarms, diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control issues, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate logs, maintenance records, and work orders; identify emerging problems and recommend proactive repairs.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal departments to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and organizational standards.

Required profile

• Hands‑on technical professional with strong knowledge of commercial building systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment and make sound decisions during routine and emergency situations.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with occupants, vendors, and engineering management.
